Where can I buy an authentic Mod parka?
Question: Where can I buy an authentic Mod parka?

The parka is something of a love/hate thing these days - some people love it for its warmth (especially on a scooter) and its association with the 1960s, other loathe it as a scruffy relic of the past. If you're reading this, I'm guessing you are of the former opinion.

The two most common parkas seen are the M51 (first seem in 1951) and the M65 (not surprisingly, dating to 1965). You can pick up both at lots of places online - the one pictured above is from a company called Fishtail Parkas, but there are lots of other alternative retailers.

That's not quite the end of the story though. Of late, we've seen a number od high-end parkas, which take the basic shape and give it a premium finish. Want examples? Well, check out the Paul Smith PS fishtail parka, the Pretty Green parka or for something more radical, the Adidas Originals by Originals Mod parka.

Personally I can take them or leave them - a pea coat is just as warm and certainly much smarter. But it's all down to personal choice.
